Sunday Summary #6
A quick thought from the week I had jotted in my notes and wanted to share: “The air tonight smells like hot dogs and I wonder if I’ll ever see sun again”.
I won’t be the first person to drag this up, but the news people and UK-specific-humour social media accounts are all reporting that it’s rained (somewhere) in the UK every single day this year, Valentine’s Day excluded. Saying it has been a grim experience would be an understatement. It’s been torturous, soul sucking, unyielding. To compensate, I’ve been searching for a ‘girl who is going to be okay’ playlist or song or album to listen to on my bus rides to yoga (because it’s STILL so dark and it’s STILL raining) and who knew I’d find it in the release of Charli XCX’s latest album “Wuthering Heights”?
I haven’t seen the movie, but on my third listen of the album I hit “order” on my very own vinyl copy. Yippie! My favourite tracks are: “Wall of Sound”, “Dying for You”, “Altars” and “Funny Mouth”. I love the ethereal texture and ambient feeling the songs evoke; they have a very this is a film soundtrack vibe: I’m ascending, I’m emotional, the Dolby digital speakers are inside my ears etc etc. “Open Up” really captures that essence/experience too.
WOULD I SAY IT’S BETTER THAN BRAT???? MAYBE?
Ask me in a week.
Thank you Phillippa for letting us use your classic bench. We loved the view too, and it was a great spot for people watching.
Happy Valentine’s Day from me and mine <3<3<3<3
A matcha latte with cold foam quite literally, honestly hates to see me coming.
You met me at a very baby blue, brown coat, Adanola time of my life.
Today I ran the Cancer Research Winter Run through central London in the pouring, FREEZING rain. It was one of the hardest runs I’ve ever done. 10k of trying (and failing) to dodge deep puddles and praying my hands wouldn’t fall off in the cold air. I was soaked straight to the bone but if I could share one incredibly important, cliche, overused piece of advice it would be this: you are far stronger than you think you are and you are capable of so much more when you just get out of your own way - technically that’s two things but it’s true. I set a PB and ran my socks and shoes off.
The Hey Tea customise your own sticker function is about to get overused by me (this is their brown sugar bobo milk tea and it’s the BEST)
10/10 no notes.
Observations + other things:
The observation well has been empty this week because I was SO busy that there was simply no time to think outside of all the other thinking I was doing.
I promise more next week.
Until the next one,
Lory x
