it's SUNDAAAYYYY (4)
Sundays are for not getting out of bed until 1pm
Not to be running behind schedule for the big ol’ analogue debate, but I am going to talk about the superiority of wired earphones. You might be wondering: “Lory, aren’t you missing the noise cancellation? The sense of being disconnected from everything and everyone as you walk down the street?” and I’ll answer you in two parts 1) not reaaaaally and 2) noise cancellation possibly (speaking subjectively) only exists to solve the issue of loud planes - otherwise in my regular life? I’m kinda okay.
I don’t mind the friction I experience when my earphone wires get caught on the corner of my desk (a mild lie) or when I place my belongings down on the kitchen counter and I forget they aren’t wireless so when I turn everything falls off the side. Another example, Friday was payday so I treated myself to a matcha latte with cold foam (life changing) and hastily put my phone in my coat pocket to leave. My movements were in fact too hasty and my earphone cord ended up being too short and I couldn’t straighten my neck properly to say bye to the barista in a way that I wouldn’t think about forever…
The really important takeaway from this interaction however was that I could hear her, I could make conversation. I was aware of the additional layer of sound around me as I listened to my music on the walk home; I could hear the cars driving through puddles and the buses and people running by.
It’s okay to be present, I don’t have to block it all out.
I had one of those incredibly busy weeks where I forgot to brush my hair and look presentable, give or take a few days - here are my favourite moments:
It was my boyfriend’s birthday and I made him a mini 10cm cake following this recipe !! It turned out so gooood and I filled the middle with jam and whipped double cream. I can see my future as a mini cake baker - anyone who knows me expect to receive a small cake from me soon.
Is the Bakerloo line the worst line? (yes)
We went to HIMI for continued birthday celebrations, a small Japanese restaurant just off Carnaby Street. It was very cosy and delicious, we highly recommend going (pictured here is the Ebichili dish)
(and this is the Nigiri selection !)
I usually don’t love Gail’s, it is what it is - but we stopped in over the weekend for a snack and got a fresh carrot cake and it was sooooo good 10/10 the frosting was delicious!
This burger spot had no fries (?????) so we just split an additional chicken burger for dinner… Yep. Exactly.
My life saving matcha latte with cold foam + miso cookie !
Observations + other things:
Seven Dials is so bad. To my Mum and Dad if you’re reading this do not resubscribe to Netflix so you can watch it. Bring back twisted plot lines, bring back thinking. 3/10 (and I’m being generous)
Not to yogamaxx everyone but I’ve been to 14 yoga classes so far this month and it’s honestly been incredible (I need better vocabulary and describing words for how it makes me feel but it’s where my mind clears, where I do all my best thinking that I then instantly forget when I want to write it down).
Is sitting upstairs at the front of the bus the best seat because you get such a panoramic views of the street?
I could say this until I’m blue in the face but I wish someone could literally write down the five key pieces I need for my wardrobe - a good jumper, the right pair of jeans, and a nice pair of loafers, then I’m set.
Until the next one,
Lory xo
